Week 07: Introduction

Class Task and Information

  • Lesson 01:
    • Revision of Desk Checks
      • Sample Data (How much data do you need?)
      • Using Spread Sheets to track variables

    • IPO Model (Input Process Output)

    • Programming Task for the lesson (using decision and loops)

Lets look at the requirements of todays task.

      Programming Practical Task:
      8 Ball decision maker

      • You have been asked to digitize an old analogue device commonly known as a ‘Magic 8 Ball’. People in the past teachers keep these on their desk to help make decisions and give answers to ridiculous questions. You have been asked to develop this application to help Mr Marsden deal with questions that he struggles to answer.

    • Students are to submit the components of tasks via myFlinders. You are able to make multiple submissions so you can submit each component one at a time. Please ensure that the work is ready for checking before the start of next lesson (normally the work will be required to be submitted by 8:35am on the day of the next lesson).

  • Lesson 02:
    • Revision of Validation Videos (White, Black or Grey)
      • Analysis of what makes a Good Validation Video for White, Black and Grey Box Validation.
      • Internal Documentation # the do's and the don'ts

    • Programming Task for the lesson (using decision and loops)

Lets look at the requirements of todays task.

      Programming Practical Task:
      03 Dice Roll Tracker

      • You have been approached by Mr Marsden to create an application that will make his students lives much easier. Currently, students are required to flip coins, spin spinners and roll various versions of dice sizes to collect statistics. The students may be required to roll a 6 sided dice, flip a coin, use a 3 sided spinner or a 12 sided dice to represent cards, 100 times or even 1000 times (This seem to be determined by how Mr Marsden is feeling at the time) and only find out at the start of the task. For the extension students in the class, they may have to roll various quantities of dice at one time.

      • Possible Variables used in the task:
        • dice_1_count
        • dice_type
        • dice_size
        • roll_amount
        • rolls
        • dice_result

      • Students are to submit the components of tasks via myFlinders. You are able to make multiple submissions so you can submit each component one at a time. Please ensure that the work is ready for checking before you go on camp.

Readings / Homework
  • Students are to complete all set programming tasks before they go on camp next week.
